The Department of Journalism is launching its new Diploma in Visual Journalism starting in June 2015. Click here to learn more.

The current Diploma in Journalism is a thorough and intensive professional formation for those students who already have at least an undergraduate degree in another field of study. This program begins in June each year and finishes in April. See course of study below.

Credits. A fully qualified candidate is required to complete a minimum of 33 credits.

Courses. All students are required to complete 33 credits in the following sequence:

Summer Term (9 credits)

JOUR 502 – Introduction to the Print Process
JOUR 511 – Introduction to the Broadcast Process
JOUR 519 – Computer-Assisted Reporting

Fall Term (12 credits)

JOUR 500 – Perspectives on Contemporary Media
JOUR 504 – News Reporting and Writing
JOUR 509 – Copy Editing and Layout
JOUR 530 – Advanced Radio News

Winter Term (12 credits)

JOUR 513 – Journalism Ethics and the Law
JOUR 536 – Advanced Television Workshop

And two of the following courses
